In a series of bewildering events, 200 people in Lower Saxony jumped out of the bushes on a train platform to ensure they wouldn’t have to wait for the next rail service.

Large group ambush train in Lower Saxony

In what must have been a confusing or even frightening event for fellow passengers, 200 people ambushed a regional train in Lower Saxony, jumping from the bushes just before the train was scheduled to depart from Achim station.

According to German police, the 200 chancers were employees of a logistics company. They are assumed to have surprised the train to ensure that they could all get on together at the end of their shift, without some having to wait 23 minutes until the next departure.

Logistics workers cause logistical nightmare for Deutsche Bahn

Unsurprisingly for Deutsche Bahn, the events caused a whole load of knock-on effects and delays. Passengers who were travelling in the direction of Bremen were held up for an hour, and in total 11 trains were delayed by 249 minutes.

When police arrived to figure out what on earth was going on, some participants had already taken the opportunity to flee the scene. Of those who were left, some were identified by witnesses or by police checking their identity cards. Police have now opened investigations into some of the participants.
