19C springlike weather to make brief appearance in Germany
Following heavy snow and a cold bite, Germany is set to see a brief burst of springlike weather over the coming weekend.
Highs of 19C forecast for Germany
Just one week after ice warnings and lows of -10 degrees celsius in mountainous regions, the German Weather Service (DWD) is forecasting highs of 19 degrees in parts of Germany on Friday.
As the weekend begins, the Lower Rhine region will see 19 degrees accompanied by rain showers. Other parts of Germany will warm up, but not quite as much.
For Friday, the DWD has forecast 16 degrees in Cologne, 15 degrees in Hannover, Bremen, Stuttgart and Saarbrücken, 10 degrees in Munich and 9 degrees in Berlin.
Warmer temperatures will persist over the weekend
Winter temperatures will return on Friday night - 1 degree is forecast for Munich, 3 degrees in Berlin and Dresden, and 4 degrees in Stuttgart and Konstanz - but springlike daytime weather will persist into Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday and Sunday, those in Cologne can expect highs between 15 and 16 degrees, 14 degrees in Frankfurt, between 13 and 15 degrees in Hanover, Bremen and Stuttgart, while Munich and Berlin will see temperatures between 9 and 11 degrees.
As the new week starts, temperatures of around 12 degrees are expected across much of the country.
