Become a web developer in 5 months (part-time, remote)
Learning the local language when moving to a new country might be one of the most difficult tasks for an expat - and, for many, German proves especially difficult to master. On top of that, finding an interesting, well-paying job that doesn’t require the local language can be equally challenging.
Wanted in Germany: Web developers
The tech / IT sector, however, is one of the few that supersedes this phenomenon. Web development is one of the most in-demand professions in Berlin and the rest of Germany - a quick search on any job platform will return upwards of 1.500 - 2.000 open positions.
Start-ups, mid-sized companies and big enterprises all need IT experts, and it’s one of the few industries that doesn’t require proficiency in Germany.
You have what it takes to tech
Still, many people believe that they don’t have what it takes to pursue a career in tech. That, however, is far from the truth.
Take three examples of people with very different backgrounds - Anastasiya, a former quality assurance engineer, Maxime, a former mechanic, and Dermot, a former music teacher. What do they have in common? They all started a new career in web development after five months at Wild Code School, a European network of schools that trains tech professionals.
Introducing Wild Code School Berlin
Continue working while learning in-demand digital skills
Wild Code School’s Berlin campus was launched at the beginning of 2020 with a full-time web development course, but quickly saw the demand from large companies, as well as individuals, for a part-time option, which allows students to continue working while learning in-demand digital skills.
Through conversations with employers from various sectors including tech, finance and recruitment, Wild Code School has developed a course that trains students to be hired as junior front-end web developers in just five months, part-time.
Their approach simulates a real-life working environment by teaching students not just how to code, but how to become developers. Through agile methodology, team projects, employability coaching, tech-ecosystem events, and hackathons with Berlin-based companies, Wilders learn both the hard and soft skills needed to thrive in technical careers.
