From salaries and perks to holiday leave and work environment, there are lots of factors that can influence how you feel about your employer and your job. A new study has ranked Germany’s most important companies according to how satisfied their employees are - and the results show that not all big international companies in Germany are good to work for. 

How satisfied are Germany’s HDax employees?

Evaluating nearly 120.000 employee reviews from the valuation portals Kununu and Glassdoor, job search engine Adzuna compiled an overall ranking of the 100 companies listed in the HDax (former DAX100). Each company was given an average satisfaction score out of five stars.

The results show that the most popular employer in Germany is the software company SAP, which received an average of 4,6 in over 10.000 employee reviews. The sports equipment manufacturer Puma and Hannover Re, an insurance provider, placed second and third, with scores of 4,5 stars and 4,3 stars, respectively.

The worst rating in the ranking - 3 stars - was given to the housing company Vonovia. Another housing company, Aroundtown, scored in the bottom two, with an overall rating of 3,1 stars. Deutsche Post, the most widely-used company for post in Germany, also counts among one of the worst-rated employers in Germany, with 3,2 stars.

The average score for all HDax companies in Germany was 3,6. These companies all made it into the top 10 most popular employers:

• 10. Beiersdorf (skincare products - 4,0)

The worst-rated employers in the ranking were:

• 90. Fresenius Medical Care (medical - 3,3)
• 91. Stiltronic (electronics - 3,3)
• 92. Deutsche Post (logistics - 3,2)
• 93. Brenntag (chemistry - 3,2)
• 94. Aixtron (plant construction - 3,2)
• 95. Nordex (wind power - 3,2)
• 96. Gerresheimer (packaging - 3,2)
• 97. Uniper (energy - 3,2)
• 98. Evotec (biotechnology - 3,2)
• 99. Aroundtown (real estate - 3,1)
