[Video] The best of the Festival of Lights in Berlin
The arrival of autumn signifies many things around the world, but usually, it means that the days are getting shorter, the nights longer and the weather colder. While some people choose to use the change in seasons as a reason to stay at home, warm and safe, snuggled up under a blanket, there are others who dare to venture out into the night.
The best of Berlin illuminated under a new light
Those who were brave enough to go out and wander the streets of the city of Berlin at night earlier this year would have been fittingly rewarded with some of the most beautiful light installations and shows at the Berlin Festival of Light.
Drawing in more than two million visitors each year, the Festival of Light invites light artists from around the world to come and illuminate some of the most iconic buildings, monuments and structures. Under this year’s theme “Lights of Freedom”, in honour of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, artists presented their visual interpretations of what freedom means to them.
Using some of the most advanced techniques in light and video mapping, countless stories were told through light and sound installations on buildings between the Brandenburg Gate and the TV Tower. One of the best ways to explore Berlin at night, the final result was nothing short of breathtakingly beautiful.
