Looking for thrills and foam? Here are five of the best water parks in Germany:
1. Galaxy Water Slide World, Erding, Bavaria
Prepare for an out-of-this-world experience at the 2.700 square metres of fun that is Galaxy Water Slide World. Not far from Munich, the largest waterslide park in Europe has a staggering 2,5 kilometres of slides - something for everyone! Strap on a VR headset and travel to another galaxy on the 160-metre Space Glider, or be dazzled by the lighting effects on the Black Mamba. If you ever tire of sliding (unlikely), head to the Venetian-style spa - surely one of the most beautiful spas in Germany - to soak up some rays.
2. Europa-Park, Rust, Baden-Württemberg
Europa-Park is well-known as one of the most popular amusement parks in Germany, but in summer the water park takes centre stage as rides like Atlantica Supersplash, Poseidon Water Coaster and the Tirol Log Flume Ride get you soaked to the skin. There’s surely no better way to cool off on a hot summer’s day!
3. Aqualand, Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia
An unforgettable family day out awaits you at Aqualand Freizeitbad in Cologne! Fall into the abyss on their one-of-a-kind rocket launcher slide, defy gravity sliding upwards (yes upwards!) on the Aquaconda and race to the bottom on the Aquaracer. Once you’ve had your fill of the thrills, take a load off at the treatment centre, a popular German spa.
4. Kristall Palm Beach, Stein, Bavaria
Get a slice of pure action with the 1,6 kilometres of gigantic slides at Kristall Palm Beach, located close to Nuremberg in Bavaria. Plunge into the darkness at the speed of light on the Black Hole, be dazzled by the Transformer’s enthralling lighting effects and career around the double loops of Pegasus II at a rip-roaring 70 km / h. Drift dreamily around the lazy river and then sip an ice-cold drink on the sun terrace. Pure bliss!
5. Miramar Erlebnisbad, Weinheim, Baden-Württemberg
There’s plenty of fun to be had for the entire family at Miramar Erlebnisbad, located halfway between Frankfurt and Stuttgart: while the little ones enjoy splashing about on the Crocodile, Pirate and Typhoon slides, the spectacular Twister ride is an adrenaline injection for people of all ages. Parents in need of relaxation can head to the massage baths or precious stone whirlpools to feel their worries melt away. Note that every Tuesday, a nudist evening is held from 6pm until 8pm.
