The open-air winter skating event, Leipzig Ice Dream, takes place from January 17 to March 2, 2025. For the sixth time, Augustusplatz in the heart of Leipzig is home to a colourful world of huts, a majestic Ferris wheel and the special centrepiece - the circular ice rink.

Ice skating, curling and delicious food at Leipzig Ice Dream

Leipzig Ice Dream is open daily from 10am- to 10pm for six weeks this winter. When you're not racing about on the ice, you can gather around for some cosy hot chocolate or refuel with some local food in the small, cosy bars and covered beer gardens, complete with fire bowls to warm up next to. You can also enjoy panoramic views from the 45-metre-high Ferris wheel. This thrilling and inviting event draws crowds, both local and from other parts of Saxony and beyond, to stroll, enjoy and have a brisk workout on the ice.

Have a spin on the largest round ice rink in Germany

Skate away to your heart's content with family or friends on the massive ice rink. What makes this ice skating experience stand out from others is that it's the largest round ice rink in Germany.

The ice rink opens on Friday, January 17, 2025, to great fanfare! At 3.30pm, guests are welcomed in by the Leipzig Ice Club's mascot and at 5.30pm the official opening ceremony takes place on the ice, complete with live music and entertainment for all ages.

Ice skate rental at Leipzig Ice Dream

Ice skates are available to rent for 3 euros per pair, in sizes 25 to 47. Children can also rent plastic penguin-shaped skating aids for 5 euros each. Visitors can also, of course, bring their own skates. You can even have your ice skate blades sharpened on-site for 8 euros.

Plan your visit to Leipzig Ice Dream

The ice rink is open from Monday to Sunday from 10am to 10pm. Due to the large number of visitors, entry is only possible on-site at the ice rink ticket office. Therefore, it's only first come, first served, rather than advance booking online.

Entry to the festival grounds is free, and visitors pay for each attraction separately, such as the ice rink, the curling rink and the Ferris wheel. Ice skating costs 7 euros for a standard adult ticket and 5 euros for a reduced fare, which is available for children, students, trainees and pensioners.

The Ferris wheel also costs 7 euros, with a 5-euro reduced fare. Curling costs between 20 and 30 euros per hour for teams of eight. Check out the Leipzig Ice Dream website for more details.
