Christmas Garden Berlin
Escape the busy hustle and bustle of Berlin and lose yourself in a magical, glistening winter wonderland, right in the city’s Botanical Garden. In the run-up to the national holiday, Berlin's Botanical Garden is transformed into a glowing fairyland, complete with a Christmas market, beautiful light installations and an ice-skating rink!
A magical winter oasis in the middle of Berlin
Inspired by Christmas at Kew at the Royal Botanic Gardens in London, the Christmas Garden Berlin features over 30 glowing light installations. Visitors are invited to come and take a quiet and contemplative 90-minute stroll through the gardens to fully immerse themselves in the winter paradise.
A gorgeous beech tree, which is over 100 years old, is turned into a magical fairytale tree, while the field of lights is sure to inspire all visitors, young and old alike. The glowing branches of the Wish Tree invite the whole family to hang their wishes, as the small Lake America comes alive with different light decorations. This year, there will be new light installations among the favourites, so keep your eyes peeled to take in even more shimmering beauty!
A winter wonderland in Berlin’s Botanical Gardens
If you are looking to do something a little more active than taking a walk, then why not skate a few loops on the ice amid the vibrant light installations?
Afterwards, head over to Santa Claus' rustic log cabin to sample some typical Christmas treats, like cheese fondue, mulled wine and hot chocolate. In addition, the Christmas Garden Berlin offers some German culinary specialities and plenty of German beer.
Plan your visit to the Christmas Garden Berlin
Christmas Garden Berlin is open daily until 10pm. Remember that, the darker it is, the better the light installations come out! Be sure to dress warmly, as the weather can change at the drop of a hat and all the light installations are located outside.
As there is no parking by the Botanical Garden, we do recommend travelling by public transport. For more information and to book your ticket, head over to the Christmas Garden Berlin website.
