Wild boar rescued after taking a dip in Brandenburg swimming pool

A wild boar has been rescued by emergency services in Brandenburg after it decided to take a cooling dip in a back garden pool and got stuck swimming for hours.

Brandenburg boar takes a swim

The German police and fire brigade were called to a house in Neuenhagen, Brandenburg after residents found a wild boar swimming in their pool.

The boar, which is said to have weighed between 40 and 50 kilos, was found swimming his lengths on Saturday morning. After some exercise and a cool down the boar found that he couldn’t climb the pool ladder to get out.

Boar rescue operation took over an hour

Emergency services were called to the scene to help the boar, which by this point was quite exhausted, to get out of the pool. Firefighters used a safety sling and special ladder to help the boar escape, a process which took around one and a half hours in total.

Once the operation was over a police spokesperson said that the ordeal had caused a revelation, “We didn’t know that a wild boar could swim for so long,” he said.
