A recent survey has found that the majority of people in Germany feel that the coronavirus pandemic has had little to no effect on their lives. The survey also found that support for the government’s handling of the crisis has fallen since summer.

Coronavirus? No problem

The coronavirus seems to have little effect on the people of Germany, with a recent survey revealing that the majority of Germans feel that the pandemic hasn’t changed their lives too much, if at all. 52 percent of Germans responded, “not too much / not at all,” when asked if how much effect the pandemic has had on their everyday lives.

The results from this survey, which was undertaken by the PEW Research Centre in America, also reveal that support for the government’s handling of the coronavirus in Germany has fallen since summer. Despite this, 77 percent of Germans still believe the government had reacted well to the virus however, this is down from 88 percent in June. Similarly, the number of people who feel that the virus has affected their lives “a great deal or fair amount” grew significantly since summer, from 38 percent in June to 47 percent in December.

The survey also published the results for men and women. In Germany, 52 percent of women said that the coronavirus pandemic had changed their lives, compared to 42 percent of men.

Germans are least bothered by pandemic

During the survey, researchers from the PEW asked 4.069 adults in Germany, France, the UK and the US how much the pandemic changed their daily lives. While a slight majority of Germans responded not at all, people from the other three countries haven’t fared so well. In the US, 74 percent of people said that the virus had changed their lives “a great deal or a fair amount.” Similarly, 70 percent of Britons and 67 percent of the people from France answered the same.
