Disruption expected on Hamburg - Berlin train route until December 14

Renovation works on the train route connecting Hamburg and Berlin are set to begin, meaning long-distance trains between the two German cities will be disrupted until mid-December.

Berlin - Hamburg train route limited as four-month renovation project begins

Starting on August 16, Deutsche Bahn will shut down the 74-kilometre track between Hamburg and Berlin as construction work begins.

Until the planned completion date of December 14, renovations will add 45 minutes to ICE train rides between Berlin and Hamburg.

During this period, there will only be one Deutsche Bahn train running between Berlin and Hamburg every hour and certain stops on the line, including Büchen, will be missed.

International trains will also be affected by Hamburg - Berlin disruption

The track renovations will also impact the Hamburg - Dresden and Hamburg - Prague EC trains, which will instead depart from and terminate in Berlin.

The Berlin - Paris - Brussels night train will also be affected and will not run between August 12 and October 25, 2024.
